Discovery Park BC Ski - 12/22/08

Matt and I took advantage of our final day off from work due to the snow storm and toured from Ballard to Discovery Park and back. It was such a beautiful day and the best of my three Seattle ski tours. We were able to ski all the way down to the beach, to the lighthouse, and even had one ski on snow and the other ski on the sand. Great times. Phinney to Sea BC Ski - 12/21/08

Ralph, Betsy, Yaniv, Matt, Emily, Jim, Jessica, Kate, and I took advantage of another day off from work to enjoy more of the great Seattle powder. We left Matt and Emily's place and climbed up to the top of Phinney Ridge on 65th, collecting some great hot cocoa along the way from some neighborhood stand and descended down the east side of the ridge. We then reclimbed up Phinney Ridge and descended back to Ballard. Except now we toured all the way to Golden Gardens to complete the Phinney to Sea tour. Once we were sufficiently soaked, we toured along Market Avenue back home. Great times enjoying the rare Seattle snow. Greenlake Circumnavigation BC Ski - 12/18/08

I took advantage of my day off from work due to the huge Seattle snowstorm and did a ski tour from Ballard around Greenlake and back to Ballard. I met up with John and Ben half way around the lake. Bullion Basin BC Ski - 12/14/08

Matt, Emily, Jim, Adam, and I went up to Crystal to ski in Bullion Basin. We found some of the coldest conditions I have ever went skiing in. After a few seconds of exposure on the ridge, you were instantly shaking. Due to the very cold temperatures and high winds, our day was cut short. I don't really know how to put this trip into words, but Jon and I spent 3 days traversing the Enchantments. We did not climb a thing, but we took hundreds of photos all day long. It was one of the best trips I have ever taken in the Cascades with a great friend. It was also something I definitely needed after Lauren and I broke up. Good times? Nah, Great times! Alpine Lookout - 09/20/08

Jessica and I went up to Alpine Lookout and was blessed with some awesome photography. The contrast of the fall colors with with silvery snags was out of this world. Cutthroat Peak Attempt (South Buttress) - 09/01/08

Stephanie and I attempted to climb Cutthroat Peak via the South Buttress the following day, but were unable to make it to the top. I don't think we got an early of enough start and wasted alot of time in the gullies below the South Buttress. We did have a great time and definitely want to go back. Spontaneity Arete - 08/31/08

Stephanie and I spent the weekend at Washington Pass and climbed Spontaneity Arete the first day. It was sort of contrived and the approach was totally bizarre. Mount Mastiff / Mount Howard Loop - 08/23/08

I went back to finish Ingalls a week later and this time brought my good friend Jim along for his first alpine climb. He had a great time and we cruised the route. Canon Mountain Circumnavigation BC Ski - 04/26/08

Matt, Ben, Tim, Dan, Jim all convinced me to join them on an adventure in the Enchantments to ski off the summit of Canon Mountain. I swore I would never hike the rode again, but here I am again hiking the road. This would be especially difficult because I just got back from South Africa and haven't exercised in a month. The road was not to bad, but the skinning up to Colchuck Lake killed me and I was totally wrecked by the time I got to the lake. I knew this would be a long day and offered to bail and meet them back at the car. Nobody wanted to hear that and soon I was skinning up to Aasgard Pass. Jim and I were in the back and made it up to the pass while the others were waiting for us. After a few minute break we were skiing down to Inspiration Lake. Dan went first and after two turns, he was caught in a slab avalanche. I have never witnessed one before it was extremely terrifying. Luckily it was not that big and he was able to stay on the top of it. We all were able to follow him down and soon after we went down to him. He was ok, besides being shook up and I guess we all were. Now we were planning on skiing a huge line with the same aspect and obviously decided not to ski that line anymore. We had two choices, the first being to head back the way we came and the second being to ski around Canon Mountain. We decided on the second choice and it turned out to be epic with many miles of terrain to traverse and much elevation to gain and lose. After facing many times were we thought we would have to spend the night we finally made it to the top of the ridge above the road. Now we just have to ski the 5000 or so feet down to the road before it gets dark. Of course one of Tim's bindings breaks, which adds to the experience. Eventually we were down to the road and hiking back to the car. The total tour was approximately 8000 feet of elevation gain and between 20-30 miles of distance covered.
